The series culminates with a celebratory in-person retreat held July 15–19, 2027, where participants will gather for deeper learning, creative practice, community connection, ritual, herbal exploration, and collective reflection.

For decades, she has guided thousands of students in reconnecting with ancestral traditions, sacred relationships with nature, and the transformative healing power of spirit.
As the author of eleven groundbreaking books, Stephanie Rose Bird has become one of today’s foremost voices in Hoodoo, African American spirituality, herbal healing, and ancestral cultural traditions. Her acclaimed works including Sticks, Stones, Roots and Bones, 365 Days of Hoodoo, The Healing Power of African American Spirituality, The Healing Tree, and Motherland Herbal have inspired readers around the world to reclaim forgotten traditions while cultivating deeper spiritual and ecological awareness.
Beyond her literary accomplishments, Stephanie is an accomplished visual artist holding both Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees. As a Fulbright Senior Scholar, her international research in art and anthropology further expanded her exploration of African and diasporic cultural traditions. Serving as Program & Retreat Director and Co-Facilitator, Queen Mother Iya Sobande Greer brings more than three decades of experience in herbal education, holistic wellness, curriculum development, and transformational leadership.
As Founder and Executive Director of the NCB School of Herbalism & Holistic Health, Iya Sobande has dedicated her career to restoring ancestral approaches to health through culturally grounded education, community healing, and experiential learning.
Throughout this series, she will oversee every aspect of the participant experience, ensuring that students receive exceptional educational support from registration through graduation. Her leadership will provide the structure, organization, and sacred container necessary for meaningful learning and authentic community building.
